Hurricane Hill

3.2 miles round trip
700 feet of gain
Jul–Oct best season
easy difficulty

Paved most of the way and still one of the best views in the state — the interior Olympics on one side, the Strait and Canada on the other. Deer treat the trail as theirs; they are correct.

Why choose this trail

Big Olympic views with a short approach. The paved-to-graded trail climbs from the Hurricane Hill parking area to a broad summit viewpoint. It is short but continuously uphill.

Landscape & habitat

Wind, snow and a short summer create a subalpine community of low flowers and grasses. Black-tailed deer and Olympic marmots are often visible.

Access, passes & rules

Hurricane Ridge Road and parking operations can change with weather, construction and capacity. Check the park's current status before driving from Port Angeles.

Conditions & hazards

There is little shelter from wind, sun or lightning. Wildlife may stand on the trail; wait and give it room.
